My work encompasses painting, sculpture and installation and is based on an exploration of materiality, space and perception. Elements from architectural forms, everyday objects and technical artefacts are taken up and transformed into minimalist, often fragile compositions.
Combining and juxtaposing two- and three-dimensional elements is of central importance to me. Based on drawings, the paintings explore the plasticity of objects while simultaneously negating it through the painted illusion. The motif of the line appears repeatedly in the three-dimensional works, turning the space into a pictorial surface. A recurring aspect is the tension between stability and fragility. Materials are used in such a way that their familiar properties are questioned and seemingly self-evident truths are dissolved.
