Stefanie Hollerbach was born in 2000 and grew up in Steingaden, Germany. From 2016 to 2019 she did an apprenticeship for wood sculpting in Oberammergau. Since 2019 she has been studying Fine Arts at the Dresden University of Fine Arts in the class of Alicja Kwade and since 2025 in the class of Mandla Reuter. In 2023 she studied for two semesters in Prague at the UMPRUM Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in the Sculpture Studio.

Her work encompasses painting, sculpture and installation and is based on an exploration of materiality, space and perception. Elements from architectural forms, everyday objects and technical artefacts are taken up and transformed into minimalist, often fragile compositions. Combining and juxtaposing two- and three-dimensional elements is of central importance. Based on drawings, the paintings explore the plasticity of objects while simultaneously negating it through the painted illusion. The motif of the line appears repeatedly in the three-dimensional works, turning the space into a pictorial surface. A recurring aspect is the tension between stability and fragility. Materials are used in such a way that their familiar properties are questioned and seemingly self-evident truths are dissolved.
